In the last two international trips we have been disappointed to discover that we had become separated and could not influence the seat assignment on-line with the airlines even though: First, we booked the flights through Expedia months in advance (yes…greater than three months in advance), and Second, we logged into the air lines days before the flights to verify personal information (as required for international travel), and to verify itinerary and seating, and Third we perform on-line check-in. It may include seat reservations but at this juncture there is no commitment by EXPEDIA or the airline, and you will not be notified if this is not honored. When EXPEDIA generates your itinerary understand that it is only a ‘reservation request’ that is submitted to the airline.
